Practice
makes perfect. Daily practice is the key to any successful venture in
life. Whether you are a rock climber,writer, actor or business person.
On
a basic physical level Earth's Power Yoga is a system of physically
demanding postures strung together with breath and movement. This
movement gives the physical intensity that we as Americans crave, but
doesn't take away from the meditative and mind strengthening
capabilities of Yoga.
Mind and body strengthening? Much of Yogas'
philosophy is difficult to explain. What we do in my class is called
mental physical anchoring. It means that you link a positive thought to
a physical action thus compounding the effects of the positive
thoughts. For example, when doing a pose called plough, we bring our
feet up over our head to touch the ground behind us. We can't see the
ground when we do this pose, but we have an element of faith that it is
there to support us. In the same way, we cannot see the future but we
know that it is there to come. Thus this links a powerful positive
thought to a physical action......
My formal experience with Yoga
began at the age of twelve. At 21, I was involved in a major auto
accident and suffered from critical injuries which several doctors
claimed would limit my physical capabilities for the rest of my life.
Multiple injuries affected my upper and lower spinal column, inclduing
a concussion, wrist injuries, a fractured and dislocated elbow, and a
broken leg. Through the application of accumulated knowledge given to
me from dedicated teachers and personal study, I created Earth's Power
Yoga to bring my mind body and soul back to perfect health.....
